Photo sessions take place on-location in your home or at another place of your choice, such as a nearby park. I prefer shooting in natural light, so daytime works better than evenings, but I realize that my scheduling must be centered around your child’s daily routine. Rather than the sterile backdrop of a studio, I use a more familiar setting as a background for casual and spontaneous images. Depending on how much time is needed a session may last 1-3 hours, typically around 2 hours.
I want to keep the sessions as simple and casual as possible, since the focus is to just let your children be themselves. Basically, I spend a couple of hours with you and your children while they do whatever you think will make them the most relaxed, letting them get used to the camera. Rather than directing them, I let them move around and explore, as I interact and play with them while shooting. My goal is to create images tailored to the personality of each child, capturing their natural and spontaneous expressions.
When you book a session, we will talk about your needs and expectations, possible locations and any ideas you might have for the shoot. Though I like improvising, you are the person who knows your child the best and knows what would make this experience the least stressful for him or her. I am of course open to suggestions for activities and settings. I will also e-mail you a list of helpful suggestions on how to prepare for the session.
Sessions include talent and time for an on-location, custom shoot, unlimited images captured during the session, editing and retouching of photos, and proofs of 15-25 images in an online viewing gallery available for two weeks. These low-resolution images are yours to download and keep, e-mail and share with friends and family. For print prices and details, see Pricing. I am available for sessions in Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn.
